The sisters of Alpha Phi, Zeta Phi Chapter, take academics seriously. Our girls represent nearly all of MIT’s 21 majors and are tomorrow’s Engineers, Scientists, and World Leaders. Our summers lead us all over the world, from helping a community in Tanzania, to working in the defense industry on the West Coast, to interning in research labs in Paris.

Our two Brownstone House features many common areas available for group coursework including, the Parlor, Chapter Room, Dining Room, TV/ Living Room, and Pink Room Lounge. For quiet work, the sisters use the House Study, which features beautiful woodwork, long tables, our own library collection, and a technology center with five  Macintosh and PC computers, three printers, and a scanner.

At Alpha Phi, sisters are always ready to offer a helping hand. Our sisters teach review sessions before tests, organize regular dinners with professors, honor academics in an annual Scholarship Banquet, and continue to contribute to our extensive collection of past year’s school coursework and build connections with a large network of alumni.

Kat Pak:

Kat

Kat exemplifies our ideals of achievement, as she explores Biological Engineering in her lab class, 20.309, Biological Instrumentation and Measurement: "We configured a breadboard for amplifying and filtering signals from DNA melting," Kat said. "The set up was built for exciting SYBR green dye bound to dsDNA and digitizing that signal to collect data on fluorescence change as a function of temperature." In addition, Kat has a 5.0 GPA in Course 20 and is off to Harvard next year for graduate school having turned down many other fantastic schools! Great job Kat, we are so proud!

Ashlee Rigel:

AshleeAshlee, majoring in Management Science, exemplifies our ideals of excellence by combining her everyday passion with her academic studies: "I worked at Neutrogena doing sales and strategy last summer," Ashlee said. "It was a really great opportunity because I got a hands on experience doing what I love in a really cool place. It’s fun working in the cosmetic industry because my friends and I are the target constituency. It’s easy to think of what ads I would want to see or what factors would influence my decision to buy Neutrogena cosmetics. I’m working there again this summer because I loved it so much last summer. I look forward to potentially pursuing a career with the company in the future. I’m very into marketing strategies and tactics so this job is right up my alley. "
